Updates The next concert will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, at the Eckstein Middle School auditorium, 3003 NE 75th Street. FALL SESSION: The Ravenna Second String Orchestra will begin on Monday, Sept. 20, and continue through Dec. 6. The Ravenna String Orchestra will rehearse Wednesdays, Sept. 22 through Dec. 8. Both orchestras will have a short run through and then play an 8 p.m. concert on Dec. 8. All rehearsals will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 pm at Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, 6535 Ravenna Ave. NE. The cost for either group will be $75. If you want to play in both orchestras there is a $25 additional fee for the second orchestra. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you want to apply for a tuition scholarship. The Monday orchestra will perform a number of movements from Suite of Six by Brent Hakanson, Shabbat Shalom (Klezmer Music for Strings), Traditional/Susan C. Brown, and will join the Ravenna String Orchestra in the last two movements of Symphony #45 (Farewell Symphony) by Haydn. The Wednesday orchestra will play Brandenburg Concerto #3, second movement, by J.S. Bach, Sonata in A Major, fourth movement (arranged for string orchestra from the violin sonata) by Cesar Franck and the last two movements of Symphony #45 (Farewell Symphony) by Franz Joseph Haydn.
